Welcome to Disability Access Services

Welcome to the Disability Access Service website. The purpose of DAS is to provide an equal opportunity to higher education for students with disabilities by providing effective accommodations based on law and/or current best practices.

The DAS office also provides education and consultation to the campus community about disability issues, works to positively influence decision-making and practices that promote a fully accessible teaching and learning environment, and promotes and facilitates self-determination for individuals with disabilities.

The office supports the Division of Student Affairs by actively incorporating the Campus Compact commitments into the daily activity of delivering services. With direction from the Director and input from Classified and Academic staff, the services are designed to be supportive, ensure compliance, and promote the development of student self-advocacy skills while maintaining fundamental academic and technical standards. DAS?s services and personnel interactions are designed to be purposeful, open, just, disciplined, caring and celebrative.

DAS serves the mission of Oregon State University by providing access and educational opportunities to a population historically disadvantaged in Higher Education: individuals with disabilities. Consultation, advocacy, and educational programs provided by DAS underscore the diverse perspectives that individuals with disabilities bring to the university community and are in alignment with the University?s Strategic Plan statement on the core value of diversity:

We recognize that diversity and excellence go hand-in-hand, enhancing our teaching, scholarship, and service as well as our ability to welcome, respect, and interact with other people.
